Choosing The Best Means Of Pest Extermination

Human beings have used pest control measures in the past when it became necessary. At a time when human civilizations began to develop all over the world, storage houses need to be protected from the animals that devour the crops reserved for days of famine. Thus, the war between the animals labeled as pests and mankind began.

In Singapore, the war is still being waged, considering that pests have also found refuge in this country where numerous food sources are available to insects and animals scavenging in trash bins and even inside human dwellings.

Pests In The Past

In ancient times, the most common method of pest control in agriculture was the use of pesticides. Other “common” pest control methods were as follows:

- Traps: Used for capturing mice in the house or wolves, raccoons, stray dogs, and cats that pose a threat to a human community.
- Chemical spray: The chemical is sprayed over towns to rid the area of mosquitoes. Mosquitoes are well-known carriers of deadly diseases, and spraying eradicates their population.
- Burning: Traditionally done in sugar cane fields to eradicate harmful insects and their eggs before the field could be prepared for another planting.

Chemical Sprays For Pests

Modern-day extermination methods still use some of these techniques. The use of chemical sprays is still very popular, especially in places where there is an incident of full-blown infestation. Scientists and environmentalists, however, have recently questioned the detrimental effects of chemical sprays on the environment and on human health.

Natural Methods For Pest Eradication

Pest control Singapore – Some companies are switching to natural means of eliminating pests. Backed with research in animal behavior, human ecology, geography, to name a few sciences involved, natural pest control methods are said to be quite effective as their chemical counterparts. Some natural pest control methods use organic – and usually plant-based – components in sprays, under the principle that these do not have adverse, long-term effects to the environment.
